FLEXIBILITY training

Flexibility Volley Practice

Coaching Points:

Divide the entire group into pairs. Two players using one ball. Players work in an area approximately 10 yards x 10 yards or 9 metres x 9 metres.

Working in pairs, one player is the receiver and the other player (the server) standing. The standing player serves the ball and the receiving player plays it back to the server. Focus on returning the ball using the following surfaces;

  • Volley return using the right thigh
  • Volley return using the left thigh
  • Volley return using the inside of the right foot
  • Volley return using the inside of the left foot
  • Volley return using the outside of the right foot
  • Volley return using the outside of the left foot

Progression:  Allow the ball to "bounce once" before volleying the ball.

Perform 20 repetitions and exchange roles. Repeat 3 times.
